VAGAL BRIDGE [Rebuild]: Vagal Toning & Strengthening
To maintain awareness in the present moment, we strengthen our bridge between mind and body with Vagal Reminders™. This helps integrate our work and allows our spirit to flow freely within us. The Vagus nerve is responsible for establishing Vagal Tone, which measures the parasympathetic threshold for staying calm and in the rest/digest state of the nervous system. If your vagal tone is low, your sympathetic reactivity is high and can quickly send you into fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses. Working with the Vagus nerve at Vagal Bridge strengthens our rest and digest response so we can consistently meet life with balanced awareness and energy.
THE WILD SIDE: Representing a strong and healthy Vagus nerve, our Vagal Bridge is our connection between two worlds – mind and body. Your unique Vagal Bridge is a symbol of your regulation threshold, and ability for your nervous system to stay in rest and digest. If you look closely you’ll see the bridge is made from roots and trees that grow over from our Forest of Feels. This reflects on weaving our new belief systems into the nervous system, by communicating with the Vagus nerve directly. I found that incorporating these Vagal tone exercises while implementing new thoughts and beliefs, was vital to them taking root in real life.
Sometimes we get to our bridge and find it has been burnt down by an overheated nervous system, or maybe we’re afraid to cross with the fog of emotions rising up from the River of Reason. Even obstacles (or lessons to be learned) can come across your path on the way to cross the bridge. Pay attention to all of it, be curious and ask questions. This is a conversation with yourself, for yourself.
Eight main attractions make up the Human Hangover® map. By the end your remedy will be a step-by-step, personalized guide for that specific emotion or area of focus. This can be especially helpful to reference while trying to maintain longterm balance. When that emotion situation comes up or is triggered in the future, you’ll have a customized guide on how to work your body and mind through it together.
Remember to set-up a healthy support system and have medical professionals in place before diving in. Exploring unprocessed emotions can be overwhelming or cause mental and physical fatigue. Have a personal plan in place to help you navigate heavy feelings or experiences that may arise, in a safe and healthy way. Above all- be open, be curious, and have fun!
